Morgan and The Hawk

$0.00

Short Story (Children's)

Excerpt: “Morgan watched an orb spider repair its web. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a family of rabbits munching grasses. The rabbits were nibbling when one perked its ears and looked around. It saw Morgan, but quickly looked above him. Suddenly, it bolted, startling the others. They scattered in different directions when a hawk crashed into the very spot the rabbit had been only a split second ago.A cloud of dust flew up as the hawk hit hard. When it recovered and stood on its talons, its eyes were a little crossed.“Boy,” the hawk said aloud. “That was some crash!” It wobbled around for a moment.Morgan stood; eyes wide. “You talked!”“Well,” the hawk said, trying to uncross its eyes. “Of course I talked. You act as if…” The hawk jumped back in shock as he saw Morgan. “Oh! Oh my! I talked to a human!” He quickly looked around to see if any other animals were watching.A scrub jay flew overhead squawking, “Aachhh! You talked. You talked. Gonna get it. Gonna get it. Aachh!”“Oh no,” the hawk said, shaking his head and looking at the ground. “He’ll tell everyone.”
