Everyone Goes to Heaven
Short Story (Fantasy)
Excerpt: ““You’re not worth a bullet.” He nodded at Karsh. “Throw him in the dumpster.”Rennig tried to bolt. Karsh easily caught Rennig’s lanky arms and pinned them behind his back.“Make sure he’s alive when you put him there.” T-Rex hissed.Rennig was somewhat relieved. He knew he could find a way to escape. He calmed down and walked with the burly man down the hallway. They went into the elevator where Karsh pressed “15”.“Where are we going? You heard T-Rex. In the dumpster, in the alley.”“Yeah, I’m putting you in there.”“Alive. He said alive.”“You’ll be alive-until you hit.”Rennig went wild. He fought and kicked, but Karsh twisted his arms up. The pain was excruciating. When the door opened, Karsh dragged Rennig up a dirty staircase through a rusty door to the roof. Rennig grabbed at the man’s clothing, scratched at sunburned tarpaper, anything, everything.Without a word, he pulled Rennig upright, and kicked him square in the back. Rennig tumbled over the ledge and fell screaming. The world spun madly in violent blurs. For a second, Rennig focused on the dumpster below. It was all over in a blinding flash.Rennig had never felt so peaceful. There was light everywhere. A gentle warmth bathed him.”
